Our Ocean Projects

We would like to share our ocean projects with you.

I learned that the octopus is an animal with eight legs and a sharp beak it uses to eat crabs and clams.  It lives near the surface in warm shallow water.  An octopus can camoflauge itself by changing color and texture when scared.

I learned that dolphins are mostly found in shallow seas.  They are smart animals.

I learned that clownfish are orange with white stripes.  They also live in warm waters.  They live in deep waters.

The leafy sea dragon has leaf like appendages that let them hide in floating seaweed.  The male sea dragon carries the eggs until they hatch.

Great white sharks live near the shore along the coastlines around the world in warm, salty waters.  Sharks are excellent hunters because they have powerful jaws that rip their prey with theri 3000 raor sharp teeth.

The seahorse is a different kind of fish.  It has a head like a small horse and can be colorful.  They live in seaweek and plants.  The fathers carries the eggs.

The loggerhead sea turtles swim near the water's surface because they must come out of the water for air.  They can grow to be 3 feet long and weigh as much as 250 pounds.

The name of my ocean creature is a seastar.  Seastars move by their tube feet which are operated by a water circulation system and are very flexible.  A steastar which is upside down centers itself over by turning a sea arm under and walking with their tube feet.  The sea star lives in the shallow waters.

A clown fish is a very bright colored fish.  It is orange in color and looks like a clown.  Clown fish are imune to a sea anemone's poison.  Clown fish live in warm shallow waters around reefs.

Dolphins are playful, intelligent animals and they eat meat.  They live in pods of up to 12 dolphins.  They live world wide, mostly in shallow seas.

Bottlenose dolphins are mammals that breath air.  They have to come to the surface to breath through the blow hole on top of their head.  Dolphins are a toothed whale.  They have a short rounded snout or beak that looks like a bottle.  They have a dark gray back and a light gray belly.  They are common in warmer oceans.

The blue eel has light gray skin and a deep blue fin.  The blue eel's teeth are pointed and serrated.  It's located in the deep waters.

Stingrays are wide, flat bodied fish.  Stingrays can grow to be 7 feet and weigh as much as 790 pounds.  Stingrays are located near the ocean floor.

Whales are beautiful.  They live in adeep waters.  Whales can only have one baby at a time.  Some whales are bigger than a boat.

Leather back turtles are the biggest turtles on earth with a black leathery shell.  Only females leave the ocean.  They live near the surface.

I learned that squids swim in deep water.  Squid are smart.
